Week 12 Recap

Here is how my Week 12 picks did:

QB

Start Eli Manning- Manning faced the Cowboys defense that looked much different out of the bye week than it did going in. Manning's points were boosted due to his two touchdowns and zero interceptions but the 174 yards was not a good day. This one will be a wash due to the points aided by the touchdowns.

Predicted Stats - 26/39, 310 yards, 2 TD, 1 Int - 22.4 points

Actual Stats - 16/30, 174 yards, 2 TD - 14.96 points

Sit Matt Ryan -  Ryan had to throw the ball a lot against the Saints but he was actually very accurate, completing 77% of his throws for nearly 300 yards. He had no touchdowns though which is why his points lacked a little. I'll score this pick a wash as well but could easily have been a loss with a touchdown pass.

Predicted Stats - 24/46, 221 yards, 1 TD, 2 Int - 8.84 points

Actual Stats - 30/39, 292 yards, 10 yards rushing - 12.68 points

RB

Start Rashad Jennings - Jennings had a solid overall day amassing 122 yards if total offense. He didn't have any touchdowns however which is again why the points were lower than the prediction. I was actually pretty close to the yardage totals but this will be a wash due to no touchdowns (see the common theme).

Predicted Stats - 113 yards, 1 TD, 3 rec, 29 yards - 20.2 points

Actual Stats - 73 yards, 4 rec, 49 yards - 12.2 points

Sit Bobby Rainey - The first prediction that is a clear cut win is Mr. Rainey. I knew Rainey would have a tough match up against the Detroit run defense and he was limited to just 35 yards on the ground. Spoiler for Week 13: Rainey faces Carolina so you should sit him again.

Predicted Stats - 47 yards, 2 rec, 9 yards - 5.6 points

Actual Stats - 35 yards - 3.5 points

WR

Start Torrey Smith - Torrey Smith did exactly what I expect him to do which was have to have a high yards per cath average. Smiths YPC of 37 was fantastic but he only had two catches. He also did not have any touchdowns which is why this pick is a loss

Predicted Stats - 5 rec, 124 yards, 1 TD - 18.4 points

Actual Stats - 2 rec, 74 yards - 7.4 points

Sit Antonio Brown - Antonio Brown went up against one of the best cover corners in Joe Haden. Brown won the first half, including a 41 yard touchdown catch. Haden won the second half but the points had been scored by Brown so a win for the Pittsburgh number one equals a loss for this prediction.

Predicted Stats - 5 rec, 36 yards - 3.6 points

Actual Stats - 6 rec, 92 yards, 1 TD - 15.2 points

TE

Start Greg Olsen - I predicted the receptions and touchdowns correctly but was just short on the yardage. Olsen is clearly Cam Newton's favorite target and security blanket. Chalk this up as a win, and was pretty close on points as well.

Predicted Stats - 5 rec, 79 yards, 1 TD - 13.9 points

Actual Stats - 5 rec, 34 yards, 1 TD - 9.4 points

Sit Jordan Reed - Reed was ruled out for Week 12 with a concussion and did not play. This prediction gets the win, but hopefully Reed won't be out for long and will be back for Week 13.

Predicted Stats - 3 rec, 29 yards - 2.9 points

Actual Stats - Did Not Play - 0 points

Overall I had three solid predictions, two not so solid predictions and three average predictions. Not a bad week but always hoping for better in Week 13.

Week 12 Start 'Em/Sit 'Em

QB

Start Eli Manning- Eli Manning has had a rough season to say the least. He has thrown the most interceptions in the NFL and has been under much scrutiny. This week however should be a different story. He faces the Dallas defense that has given up the most fantasy points to opposing quarterbacks. You all saw what Drew Brees did against them in Week 10. Look for Manning to still throw a pick, but compensate with a big day.

Predicted Stats - 26/39, 310 yards, 2 TD, 1 Int - 22.4 points

Sit Matt Ryan - Sticking with the common theme of the Saints, New Orleans dominated Tony Romo in Week 10. It was one of his worst games of his career, and he didn't even throw an interception. That's what a great pass rush and pass coverage will do. Enter Matt Ryan who faces the Saints this week. Ryan already is without Julio Jones, Roddy White just came back from injury and Tony Gonzalez is banged up as well. Not a good combination.

Predicted Stats - 24/46, 221 yards, 1 TD, 2 Int - 8.84 points

RB

Start Rashad Jennings - The Titans have one of the best pass defenses on the NFL and have been great at limiting quarterbacks and receivers. They haven't been as dominant against the run though which is why I think Rashad Jennings will have a great day running the ball. Jennings had a very productive week last week, and will continue to be the feature back as long as Run DMC is out. With the Titans limiting the passing game, the Raiders should turn to the ground and continue to feed Jennings.

Predicted Stats - 113 yards, 1 TD, 3 rec, 29 yards - 20.2 points

Sit Bobby Rainey - So you used your waiver claim on Week 11 breakout star Bobby Rainey and you were successful in picking up the Tampa Bay running back. Congratulations, now stick him on your bench. Rainey had a great week against a subpar Atlanta defense. This week he goes up against one of the best run defenses in Detroit. I think Rainey will come crashing back down to earth this week, and don't expect much next week either as he faces the Panthers. Maybe you should have used your waiver claim on somebody else.

Predicted Stats - 47 yards, 2 rec, 9 yards - 5.6 points

WR

Start Torrey Smith - Torrey Smith has been known as a deep ball receiver throughout his career. This week he will most likely be matched up against Antonio Cromartie when the Ravens play against the Jets. Cromartie has allowed over 20 yards per completion to receivers he has been covering this season which bodes very well for a deep threat like Smith. He may not have a high volume of catches but look for Smith to reach 100 yards and a long score this week.

Predicted Stats - 5 rec, 124 yards, 1 TD - 18.4 points

Sit Antonio Brown - Pittsburgh Steelers' wide receiver and PPR elite Antonio Brown faces the Cleveland Browns and cornerback Joe Haden this week. While I expect Brown to continue to get his usual five catches, I don't expect much in terms of yardage. Haden is one of the best corners in the game and is extremely good at limiting yards after the catch. He can easily take a receiver out of the game, just ask AJ Green who he held to seven yards receiving last week. Tough to sit such a consistently productive fantasy wideout but you should consider it this week.

Predicted Stats - 5 rec, 36 yards - 3.6 points

TE

Start Greg Olsen - Olsen has shaken off his injury he had earlier in the season and has scored three touchdowns in his last four games. He's clearly one of Cam Newton's favorite targets and this week he goes up against that notorious Miami defense that I write about often. Miami is good at limiting the wide receivers but struggles against tight ends. Olsen should have another solid game and a touchdown.

Predicted Stats - 5 rec, 79 yards, 1 TD - 13.9 points

Sit Jordan Reed - Last week Jordan Reed was knocked out of the game with a concussion after just one catch, which is very similar to my write up last week in which I told you to sit Vernon Davis because he suffered the same fate. This week Reed faces Davis's team the 49ers who have given up the fourth least fantasy points to opposing wide receivers. Even if Reed is cleared to play, he will have an extremely tough matchup. If you have another strong tight end on your roster, you should consider benching Reed.

Predicted Stats - 3 rec, 29 yards - 2.9 points

Week 11 Recap

It was an interesting Week 11 and hopefully your team got a win. Here's how my Start 'Em/Sit 'Em picks faired:

QB

Start Russell Wilson - I predicted Russell Wilson would be a very safe pick and he was just that. Another typical game for the Seahawks quarterback. He manages games very well and doesn't turn the ball over, which is all you can ask for from your quarterback. I almost predicted the exact amount of points for Wilson so this will be a win. Wilson could have had a much better day but he was pulled late when the game was already won.

Predicted Stats - 22/29, 235 yards, 2 TD, 29 yards rushing - 20.3 points

Actual Stats - 13/18, 230 yards, 2 TD, 14 yards rushing - 18.6 points

Sit Andrew Luck - Luck went up against a very tough Tennessee defense that limited him to zero passing touchdowns. He did not have a good game like I predicted. However, he was able to score one rushing touchdown which boosted his points. If not for that rushing touchdown, I would have almost predicted his point total exactly. For that this pick is a wash.

Predicted Stats - 28/51, 248 yards, 1 TD, 2 Int, 12 yards rushing - 11.12 points

Actual Stats - 23/36, 232 yards, 31 yards rushing, 1 TD - 18.38 points

RB

Start Andre Ellington - Andre Ellington is the pick that I am most disappointed about and most puzzled about. I really thought he would have a fantastic day against the porous Jacksonville defense. He was essentially invisible the entire game and his only highlight was when he had one if his dreads ripped out. Definitely taking a loss on this pick.

Predicted Stats - 73 yards, 1 TD, 6 rec, 55 yards, 1 TD - 24.8 points

Actual Stats - 3 yards rushing, 1 rec, 10 yards - 1.3 points

Sit Matt Forte - Sitting Forte was definitely my biggest reach of the week and it didn't work out to say the least. I thought Forte would struggle against the Baltimore defense but he had a very good day all around. This one goes down as another loss.

Predicted Stats - 71 yards, 3 rec, 22 yards - 9.3 points

Actual Stats - 83 yards rushing, 5 rec, 42 yards, 1 TD - 18.5 points

WR

Start Pierre Garçon - Pierre Garçon had a solid game but not as good as I thought he would have. Six receptions for 68 yards is a respectable day and solid points in PPR leagues, but was just average in standard leagues which is why I take a loss on this pick.

Predicted Stats - 6 rec, 118 yards, 1 TD - 17.8 points

Actual Stats - 6 rec, 68 yards, 9 yards rushing - 7.7 points

Sit T.Y. Hilton - Hilton fell to the same fate as Andrew Luck, matched up against one if the better pass defenses in the NFL. I nearly predicted his point total exactly, his struggles equal a win for my prediction.

Predicted Stats - 4 rec, 51 yards - 5.1 points

Actual Stats - 5 rec, 44 yards - 4.4 points

TE

Start Antonio Gates - Gates had a good day and almost had the amount of production I predicted. It was the type of stat line we expect from Gates and he would have had a second touchdown if not for an illegal forward pass penalty called against Phillip Rivers. Solid day equals a win.

Predicted Stats - 7 rec, 79 yards, 1 TD - 13.9 points

Actual Stats - 4 rec, 52 yards, 1 TD - 11.2 points

Sit Vernon Davis - Take away the touchdown and Davis did not have a good day. The six fantasy points definitely took his day from bad to okay, and gave him more than predicted. This pick is a wash and not a loss due to his low receptions and yardage.

Predicted Stats - 2 rec, 44 yards - 4.4 points

Actual Stats - 4 rec, 33 yards, 1 TD - 9.3 points

Week 11 was an average week for my predictions, three wins, three losses and two washes. I took a few chances with Forte, Luck and Ellington and they didn't pan out but expect some more bold picks for Week 12.

Week 11 Start 'Em/Sit 'Em

I probably should have mentioned last week that my "predicted points" amounts that I give at the end of my predicted stats are based off of ESPN standard scoring. And with that, here is my Week 11 Start 'Em/Sit 'Em:

QB

Start Russell Wilson - Russell Wilson has quietly enjoyed a very good sophomore season for the Seahawks. This week he is my safest pick to have a very good game. Wilson isn't going to throw for Brees and Manning type numbers, but he doesn't turn the ball over and he's very consistent. You can't really go wrong with the young quarterback.

Predicted Stats - 22/29, 235 yards, 2 TD, 29 yards rushing - 20.3 points

Sit Andrew Luck - This is an extremely tough sit for me because I have Luck on my fantasy team. Luck has had a great season so far but this week he goes up against the Titans and a defense that has been very good against the pass. With The Colts running game lacking over the last few weeks, I expect Luck to throw drop back to pass a lot. The lack of a run game will also make it easy on the defense to rush the passer and run tight coverage since the know the pass will be coming. Luck and his receivers could be in for a rough evening.

Predicted Stats - 28/51, 248 yards, 1 TD, 2 Int, 12 yards rushing - 11.12 points

RB

Start Andre Ellington - The entire fantasy nation is screaming out for Bruce Arians to free Andre Ellington and give him the starting running back job. Arians however is still declaring Rashard Mendenhall the starter and for now Ellington is still the number two. That won't matter this week as Ellington should get around 20 touches against a terrible Jacksonville defense. Ellington can, and will, do a bit of everything en route to a nice day.

Predicted Stats - 73 yards, 1 TD, 6 rec, 55 yards, 1 TD - 24.8 points

Sit Matt Forte - My "close my eyes and hope it works" pick this week is Matt Forte. Last week I told you to sit Jason Witten after a huge game and it worked out well so here goes another. Forte is definitely one of the top five running backs in the NFL and can do many things for the offense. He goes up against a Baltimore defense this week that has been quietly very good. In fact, Baltimore has allowed the second least fantasy points to opposing running backs this season. My predicted stats would be solid for most running backs but you expect more from Forte which is why he's a sit this week.

Predicted Stats - 71 yards, 3 rec, 22 yards - 9.3 points

WR

Start Pierre Garçon - When thinking of the top receivers in the NFL you don't often think of Pierre Garçon, but you should. After a somewhat slow few weeks, Garçon and RGIII have been firing on all cylinders as of late. Garçon is great in PPR leagues and has been racking up the yards lately as well. This week he faces the Eagles who have allowed the most fantasy points to opposing wide receivers. Should be a big day for Garçon.

Predicted Stats - 6 rec, 118 yards, 1 TD - 17.8 points

Sit T.Y. Hilton - See: Luck, Andrew. Hilton will most likely be matched up against one of the top corners in the NFL Alterraun Verner, which won't help his production.

Predicted Stats - 4 rec, 51 yards - 5.1 points

TE

Start Antonio Gates - Last week I was hoping Tim Wright would take advantage of a Dolphins defense that has given up a lot of points to opposing tight ends. However, he let me down and had one catch. This week I'm picking Antonio Gates to do what I had hoped Wright would do. Gates is still a top tight end and his partnership with Phillip Rivers has been one of the best over the last few years. Look for Gates to get in the end zone at least once this week.

Predicted Stats - 7 rec, 79 yards, 1 TD - 13.9 points

Sit Vernon Davis - Vernon Davis was knocked out of last week's game with a concussion. It looks like he is going to play this week, but don't expect much from him. Even if Davis is able to last the whole game, he will still have to battle against The Saints defense that has given up the fifth least fantasy points to opposing tight ends. Rob Ryan has his defense playing very well and if Davis plays he will undoubtedly be marked all game.

Predicted Stats - 2 rec, 44 yards - 4.4 points

Week 10 Recap

Week 10 is in the books and hopefully your fantasy football team was victorious like mine, and hopefully my Start 'Em/Sit 'Em and Rankings helped as well.  Here is a recap of how my picks faired this weekend.

QB

Start Jake Locker - Unfortunately for Jake Locker and the Titans, the third year Quarterback was injured in the first quarter against the Jaguars and did not return to the game. After further reports on Monday, it turns out Locker is going to miss the rest of the season. The injury definitely put a damper on this prediction but it doesn't look like it would have been a good one even if Locker finished the game. His shortened day actually yielded negative fantasy points for his owners. I'm definitely taking a loss on this one.

Predicted Stats - 19/27, 245 yards, 2 TD, 36 yards rushing, 1 TD - 27.4 points

Actual Stats - 4/9, 24 yards, 1 Int, 18 yards rushing, 1 fumble lost - negative 1.24 points

Sit Colin Kaepernick - Kaepernick had the unfortunate task of playing the Carolina Panthers defense that has feasted on opposing Quarterbacks and the 49ers signal caller suffered the same fate as many others. A measly 91 yards on 11 completions is all he could show for his day as he was harassed all game. Kaep didn't even manage four fantasy points, which was even less than I predicted, and means this pick was a win.

Predicted Stats - 21/38, 199 yards, 1 TD, 1 Int, 26 yards rushing - 12.56 points

Actual Stats - 11/22, 91 yards, 1 Int, 16 yards rushing - 3.24 points

RB

Start Alfred Morris -  The Butler had a very solid game against the terrible Minnesota defense rushing for 139 yards, just six more yards than I predicted. Unfortunately he did not have any touchdowns so his point total did not match up to the prediction but it was still a good day and good production in standard leagues, just not the inflated point totals that come from touchdowns. I'll call a wash for this pick.

Predicted Stats - 133 yards, 2 TD, 1 rec, 6 yards - 25.9 points

Actual Stats - 139 yards - 13.9 points

Sit Arian Foster & Ben Tate - As most people though going into this game Arian Foster did not play, and it turns out he's been placed on Injured Reserve and is out for the year. Ben Tate did play but was already banged up and did not play the whole game. The stingy Cardinals defense held Tate to a very modest day and had the exact point total that I predicted which means a win for this pick.

Predicted Stats - 64 yards, 0 TD - 6.4 points

Actual Stats - 56 yards, 3 rec, 8 yards - 6.4 points

WR

Start Antonio Brown -  Depending on what type of league you are in, Antonio Brown either had a good day or he had a very good day. It was another typical day at the office for Brown and if you have him in a PPR league you are very pleased (as you usually are). Even if you have him in a standard league you can't complain as he was able to get over 100 yards receiving. The lack of a touchdown means he scored less points than I predicted but still put up the yardage. I'll score this a wash as it is similar to the Morris pick.

Predicted Stats - 11 rec, 123 yards, 1 TD - 18.3 points

Actual Stats - 6 rec, 104 yards, 10.4 points

Sit Cecil Shorts - Even though the Jaguars put up 29 points and finally got their first win of the season, Shorts did not see good production just as I had predicted. The Jags jumped out to a lead and did not have to throw the ball like they usually do so Shorts did not have as many opportunities to put up points. Only two receptions on the day and another win for this pick.

Predicted Stats - 5 rec, 69 yards - 6.9 points

Actual Stats - 2 rec, 42 yards - 4.2 points

TE

Start Tim Wright - Did Tim Wright even play this week? He was targeted just one time the entire game since the Buccs were having good success in the run game against the Dolphins. I definitely expected much more from Wright this week and absolutely chalk this one up as a loss.

Predicted Stats - 8 rec, 75 yards, 2 TD - 19.5 points

Actual Stats - 1 rec, 19 yards - 1.9 points

Sit Jason Witten - I was very hesitant to tell you to sit a great player like Jason Witten, especially after his Week 9 performance. But just like I thought, the Cowboys were dedicated to the run in the first half and Witten did not see a lot of targets. The game was completely dominated by the Saints and despite no turnovers, Tony Romo had a terrible game. My riskiest prediction turned out to be a very easy win to cap off the picks for the week.

Predicted Stats - 5 rec, 34 yards, 1 TD - 9.4 points

Actual Stats - 2 rec, 27 yards - 2.7 points

Overall, Week 10 was pretty good for my picks. I had four wins, two picks that were definite losses (Thanks Tim Wright), and two picks that were successful yet lacked the touchdowns to call them wins. I'm extremely pleased with my Jason Witten prediction and hopefully for this week I can give some more good advice. I will have the Week 11 Rankings and Start 'Em/Sit 'Em up before the Thursday night game. Thanks for reading and good luck in your matchups for Week 11.

Week 10 Start Em/Sit Em

QB

Start Jake Locker - Locker has played well since he missed some time earlier in the season. He's not the type of quarterback that will consistently throw for 300 yards and 3 touchdowns, but he can be a solid fantasy quarterback when he does not throw interceptions. He also can pickup some yards running the ball. Locker has the best match up for every quarterback this week against Jacksonville and I think he's a must start.

Predicted Stats - 19/27, 245 yards, 2 TD, 36 yards rushing, 1 TD - 27.4 points

Sit Colin Kaepernick - Coming off the bye week Kaepernick gets the Carolina defense that has been very tough on opposing quarterbacks. In fact, Carolina has allowed the least fantasy points to opposing quarterbacks in standard leagues. Now I understand Carolina has not faced the best quarterbacks so far this season, but this is still a good defense. Let's not forget either that Kaepernick has been shaky at times this season. I think Carolina's pass rush will give him trouble all day.

Predicted Stats - 21/38, 199 yards, 1 TD, 1 Int, 26 yards rushing - 12.56 points

RB

Start Alfred Morris -  For whatever reason, last week the Cowboys chose to not run the ball on a Vikings defense that has been in the top five for fantasy points allowed to opposing running backs. That will not be the case this week and the Redskins will run all day against Minnesota. I told you not to start Morris last week and he burned me for a very nice game. This week I'm endorsing The Butler to have an even better game and hopefully not get touchdown vultured again.

Predicted Stats - 133 yards, 2 TD, 1 rec, 6 yards - 25.9 points

Sit Arian Foster & Ben Tate - Both Foster and Tate are banged up and Foster may not even end up playing. That alone is reason to not start either of the Texans' backs, but add in the fact that they're playing an Arizona Cardinals defense that's has allowed the second least fantasy points to opposing running backs and now they both become absolute must-sits.

Predicted Stats - 64 yards, 0 TD - 6.4 points

WR

Start Antonio Brown -  Brown has been one of the best receivers in PPR leagues this season and pretty solid in standard leagues as well. The Pittsburgh wideout has been putting up at least 9 catches for 90 yards seemingly every game and this week should top those totals. He faces off against a Buffalo defense and secondary that has been decimated by opposing wide receivers, giving up the second most points. I expect a big game from Brown this week.

Predicted Stats - 11 rec, 123 yards, 1 TD - 18.3 points

Sit Cecil Shorts - Shorts has had a quality season and been pretty reliable in fantasy due to the Jaguars constantly playing from behind and needing to throw the ball. While I expect that trend to continue, I don't expect Shorts to pickup a lot of points. Jaguars receiver Justin Blackmon was suspended for the rest of the season this week, which will again make Shorts the focal point of the passing game. That means Titans cornerback Alterraun Verner, who has been one of the best corners in the league this season, will be covering Shorts. Not the recipe for a good day for the Jags receiver.

Predicted Stats - 5 rec, 69 yards - 6.9 points

TE

Start Tim Wright - Tim Wright has been a pleasant surprise this season for the Buccs. He's developed a ice rapport with rookie quarterback Mike Glennon and the pair should combine for another solid game. Tampa Bay plays Miami this week and while the Dolphins defense has been good at limiting wide receivers, they've been susceptible to giving up points to Tight Ends. Tampa Bay lost receiver Mike Williams for the year which means defenses will be able to double team Vincent Jackson, leaving Wright alone against a safety or linebacker. I think he'll flourish in this matchup this week.

Predicted Stats - 8 rec, 75 yards, 2 TD - 19.5 points

Sit Jason Witten - I know Witten had a huge game last week, but that was against a Minnesota defense that has not been good at all. Plus the Cowboys ran the ball nine times total last week (yes, you read that correctly). This week I expect a much more balanced offensive game plan which should lead to more runs and more blocking assignments for Witten. The Saints defense is much, much better than Minnesota as well, so a large drop in production from the Cowboys' tight end is to be expected.

Welcome

Hello! My name is Josh and I am a Fantasy Football fanatic. I created this blog to post my opinions and advice for the rest of the football season. Each week I will have a Start Em/Sit Em and Positional Rankings. I hope you benefit from my advice, and any comments and feedback is appreciated. Enjoy!
